Hey guys I’m about to start my first lowrider build, but I’m having trouble finding the right sized rails. Will these ones be acceptable? They are galvanised and I’m not sure if that will lead to inconsistencies across the tubing. Has anyone else in Australia have any recommendations on steel tubing/where you got some from? Any advice is greatly appreciated

I’m in Auckland NZ and used 31.8mm 1.5mm stainless and it worked without any issues. have a look at stainless suppliers they should have some in stock
Thanks for the advice, it’s just that there are no stainless supplies around where I live. Gonna have to keep digging
Welcome @Jacob1 !
https://forum.v1e.com/t/another-aussie-build-in-perth/34442/4 topic has some Aussie suppliers. Note the topic is old and references smaller dimensions used for LR3. I shared the topic incase the suppliers mentioned can help with the pipe size needed for your LR4.
Guessing future readers will appreciate learning which supplier works out for you.
Hey Jacob!
Is that bronte baths in your dp?
I’ve recently built a LR4 in Melbourne. I used this tube for my rails:
With the bunnings stuff, I wouldn’t be too concerned about the gal as it’s generally electro galvanised rather than hot dip, so the surface finish is much more uniform. The main reason I decided against it was because I thought the wall section was a bit light.
Hey Marty
Yeah it’s Bronte baths from when I went to Sydney, I’m from WA and that was while I was doing some travel in my gap year. I think I’m just going to get the Bunnings one even though it’s a little thin and see how it turns out. If it doesn’t I’ll have to order the ones you linked from tube supplies and fork out some cash for shipping ![]()
Thanks for the comment ![]()
Hey aza
I’ve just ordered everything I need from v1, should hopefully get here in about a week. Once it arrives I’ll just go for the Bunnings one and see how it turns out
Cheers ![]()
yeah nice one!
i work with some stainless fabricators from wa. when i was sourcing parts for my machine they shared these with me from their suppliers. i can find out some more details if you’re interested.
otherwise, let me know if you’ve got any other aus based build questions.
Hey mate, I am also in Perth WA.
Stirling Metals in Bibra Lake will have all of these listed stainless steel tubes in stock.
I also have 3m of tube left over that you can have but depending on the size machine you are building you might need another 3m anyway.
Let me know if this helps. I am in Yangebup.
That’s a real nice offer Andrew, but I reckon I’ll need at least 4m or so for my build. Everyone on this forum has been really helpful and I really appreciate your advice ![]()
Cheers
I should be alright with the Bunnings ones but if it doesn’t turn out I might hit you up later ![]()
What size did you make your lowrider? I reckon I’ll go for something full sheet capable but I haven’t made up my mind fully yet as it seems easy to upsize
Cheers Marty ![]()
Hey mate - This is what I used - https://tle.mmem.com.au/wmi32vhd - pretty happy with it (fits the 32mm printed parts no issue.
