Hey folks, I’m considering building a LowRider v4 mostly for use as an automated flattening sled for woodworking, and maybe for sheet-size cutting tasks later. Clearly an appropriately scaled LowRider is quite capable at the latter, but the 4" of Z travel that the stock LowRider is designed for could be a limiting factor down the line.
If I’m reading the drawings correctly, it seems like Z-travel range is just limited by the lead screw length, the linear slides and the YZ block’s supporting height.
Has anyone tried building a 6" or 8" extended-Z lowrider? Or is this obviously a terrible idea for reasons I’m missing.
