LowRider CNC for guitar buildin?

Please explain what you are saying is poisonous

Allergies/Toxicity: Although severe reactions are quite uncommon, purpleheart has been reported as a sensitizer. Usually most common reactions simply include eye and skin irritation, as well as nausea. See the articles Wood Allergies and Toxicity and Wood Dust Safety for more information

And it does make you feel sick. I’ve felt it myself. Some other woods are the same. I got the opportunity of getting around a tonne of a wood called Greenheart. Its an olive colour with quite a waxy texture. It’s used a lot in canal lock gates and harbour installations, as it’s very resistant to rotting in water.

In hindsight, it’s not the nicest of woods, but the opportunity of getting that much swayed my decision. However, it really does make you feel sick. Even with a dist mask :face_vomiting:

Got it, thank you!

Every wood tries to kill you. Wenge as well as oak and beech…

I only have one kind of wood that is more heavy than purple heart, satinwood…

And in the store they had ironwood and Pockholz. Those are in a completely different league.

Pukkenholt is amazing! It’s so hard and oily that they use it as a bearing for ship propeller axles! It was used as bearing in the worlds first atomic submarine, the USS Nautilus.

The father of a friend of mine who is a furniture carpenter was comissioned once to make a table out of pukkenholt (lignum vitae). It had been used as a slab under a oil rig footing on the bottom of the ocean, and some of the rig workers wanted to make a table as a unique memory.

I don’t know how the job went. I wonder how his saw’s held out..

They also use it for the soles of hand planes and for Boßelkugeln. They have a huge shipment of it in Hamburg but it’s really expensive. I’d love to make some gears from it that are self oiling.

What’s the size dimensions of your lowrider please?

Cutting size is 540mm x 1000mm x 150mm

What a great idea and in case it hasn’t been mentioned. Freecad actually has a specific work bench that some good sole has already done.
