I’ve got an Archim 1.0a that I use on my MPCNC Burly that I built back during Covid. Is it possible to use this board for a new LowRider 4 that I’m planning to start soon? I’m planning on a fun red/white/blue print design, go 'merica!
LowRider, including LR4, can be run by pretty much any 5 driver board. The firmware on the board will hold sway over whether auto-squaring etc can happen.
Looks like Archim 1.0a has DRV8825 stepper drivers. Already seen some of the Pros and Cons compared to TMC2209 drivers often, but not always, used on V1E machines? I was curious, here some details https://chatgpt.com/share/6706b96e-a8e4-800b-96e9-b292b13330f5, and some related info from Jeff :
Thanks for all of that! I may start with the Archim that I’ve got and switch to something else later. I’m glad to know it should work ok but I’d get more features if I upgraded.
Start a build thread here, and the community will help you as you go.
Looking forward to seeing your build progress.
The Archim support in Marlin was pretty rocky to start. It is kind of a rambo with the 32 bit processor.
Our MarlinBuilder Releases has had archim support come and go.
But there is no reason it can’t be used if you can flash it.
