Low Profile $2 clamps

What do you think?

Slightly oversized hole allows for at least 3/4" clamping with no block, add a block and sky is the limit. I got 1/4"x2" but I think they went up to 4" long and even larger. They say 120lb shear…so strong enough. There were some with wider wings, Going to have to browse around a bit. On the back I think a 3D printed knob would be awesome, to spread the load an bit and have some good sticktion. I am going to stick with my logo knobs from the previous LowRider, I will update them to fit 1/4" ASAP. I also have wing nuts, fenders washer, and lock washers (I know, I know but, they should work on wood), to see what works best.

Just to be clear I am aware of what these were designed to do and how they are to be used…but his is also a pretty sweet function.

That’s a cool idea!

Clever.

My LR table has no way of getting to the bottom though, so I’d have to drive a wood screw through the wings.

I always end up jamming the screws through at an angle to keep things tight and fender washers work but you need to shim them up and get them really tight because they bend. These puppies have two little claw feet, depending on which direction work at different angles. I might be wrong but this is what I have been looking for while having a bunch of the smaller ones in the tool box…doh!

I think I will drill some holes in the common places, and use wood screws like usual on the odd stuff. I thick with the right screw they will fit nicely under the lowRider even.

If I installed the nuts under the spoil board in spots that could work. I don’t mind using a screwdriver either, since I’m in the shop already.
