I'm trying to locate any additional sources of multi-colored plywood, which goes by various trade names. I've only been able to locate one company that makes it in sheets, rather than small blocks, and I'm hoping there are other options. The only one that I've been able to find is SpectraPly and they require a 6 week lead time. Are there any other sources of colored plywood still out there? Ideally, I'd be looking for 1"x12"x24" or greater sizes. I see that the main processing factory burned down in 2014, so it looks like many of the older products aren't available. Thanks for any help!
I’ve never seen the stuff bigger than knife handle blanks. 3d carvings into the stuff would look really cool!
Yeah, the CWP sheets are the largest ones that I’ve seen, everything else is for pens, knives, etc. I tried making my own, but the thinnest sheets I had were 1/8"-thick plywood and that meant that there was a lot more bare wood than painted layers. My only additional thought would be to try and soak the plywood in a stain material to see if it would get much deeper than a surface coating. Here’s a picture of a really cool art piece that is giving me some inspiration.
I usually get them from old skate boards, haha.
