Anyone planning on attending Lightburn Experience 2023 in Peoria at the end of October? Ryan, you had mentioned perhaps a vendor table for the V1E line of products, still considering?
I would love to go but these shows take a lot out of me. I will have to decide after Open Sauce.
Just looked at the agenda for open sauce. looks cool. Would love to go see Mark Rober. His MIT commencement this year was awesome.
Me and Aza need to coordinate any talks/panels we want to see. Someone needs to be at the booth at all times. Should be very different from *RRF’s.
Yeah, MarkRober has lots of edutaining content that sneakily shares engineering/science concepts, helping to inspire kids and adults even. Seen Mark Rober’s Creative Engineering: Bring Your Creative Ideas To Life With Science & Engineering ?
My family and I participated in the first run of Mark Rober’s Creative Engineering course in Jan 2020. Was one of the reasons we bought a 3D printer back then. We sat together watched the videos, did project brainstorming, requirements, breaking down and prioritizing tasks, etc… Unfortunately Kids interest fizzled out when it came to doing the implementation work, I blame myself for not steering us towards a more achievable stretch project. Didn’t help that the kids had tests/exams then.
Course is not cheap! But I rationalized it as an investment/bet that might pay off if the kids go into STEAM, or something else that helps them pay for food and shelter. My partner frequently complained about the course price for the entire month.
Fortunately, just after the course finished, the hosting website paid me a bug bounty that more than covered the course after I informed them about an issue. I respect how quickly they acknowledged and addressed the problem (coding issue). More importantly I appreciate being able to remind my partner we effectively got paid to do the course
Top video: “how to escape a police dog”! By everything that is good, I hope my kids never will need that knowledge
You folks are lucky to be going there, it seems amazing and super inspirational.
Anyone else able to watch the LBX livestream this morning? They showed a demo of their soon to be released CAM package, Millmage, and said if anyone was interested in becoming a beta tester to email support and let them know your details (background, CNC experience, computer hardware/OS, CNC type). They’re trying to get as broad/diverse of a test group as possible.
