I’ve come a long way. The wood cutting is progressing. Have got a real good feel for Fusion and using it for modeling and CAM. Bought the LaserTree 20w Pro and goggles but now think an enclosure makes sense. I build the Lowrider to cut max 24” x 36”. Would appreciate some ideas. Thanks
I started down that path and found that to be an expensive venture so I abandoned that thought.
I made a vacuum table on top of which I place the honeycomb. Between the vacuum table and the air assist no need for an enclosure.
Enclosure is way safer than glasses especially if you have pets or family randomly walking or the room
The simplest enclosure is a box. I have some orange acrylic that is supposed to be “laser safe” but I don’t trust it - real certified stuff is the cost of a small house and there must be a reason for that.
Here’s my current design (the two boxes are independent of each other) which hopefully I’ll get to producing them November-ish- the window is bent but could be in either the top or bottom or both. I have a camera for the laser, and will probably do the same for MillMage when I get set up.
Note there are two boxes - one for the lowrider and one for the laser - but the concept should be clear enough.
I’ll use cupboard gas struts on the lid (or a stick - I haven’t made up my mind)
I will make it a bit more complicated than needs be to make it lighter - so I’ll frame each panel with 50mm x 8mm MDF and skin with 3mm, however it could easily be made from 12mm solid or any other size.
