Doug your stuff is on point as always! Nice work!
Thanks! The client plans to paint these with gold paint. The will probably look pretty nice then.
Oh absolutely! Granted comes down to taste, leaving the burned edge look and just painting the top I think would look super sharp
Do you have to wash them? We get a lot of soot with the 60 W laser when vector cutting. We typically go high power and really slow, but I’ve see recommendations of going faster and multiple passes to avoid the soot. Wondering if you have perfected that and could comment. I periodically get to use it for control box enclosures and I always char it pretty good with the cheap wood leftovers.
They have not been washed, and they are something I’ve never printed before, and the first batch had more soot while the second batch had less soot (made adjustment between batches). Items that I print often, I have the speed and power worked out to cut through completely while giving a minimum of soot or no soot. Items that I don’t print frequently — I usually don’t have enough need of print repetition to get that completely dialed in. When I print my 1/4” thick red oak game board pieces, I can do that with no soot. I guess I went a little too slow on these, overestimating how much it would take to cut through it, and I got some soot. But it’s not horrible.
