Ok really new to the cnc thing. If I wanted to engrave on a small object. How do I align the part under the laser? Should I do a low power burn on the waste board and use that as my guide or something?
Almost forgot, when I’m using the diode with lightburn, I can tell it to loop around the part in low power, so I can see the outline. Very handy. You could probably do the same thing by making a path with whatever software you are using. Set it to like a half percent of power or something. Lightburn is pretty nice.
I will have to find that command. I have been using lightburn but I found I like the setup for jogging into position and homing commands are much easier with repiter.
I just started using lightburn can you home just the x and Y? I have had zero success in the command line too.
To be honest I have spent very little time with that software.
The frame buttons are in one of the panels in the bottom right. Probably a move panel or something like that. I haven’t opened it in a month or so, though, and that’s about all I can remember. I think it’s a button with either a square or blob made from a dashed line. One outlines the smallest rectangle that fits around your burn, the other follows the outermost contour.
For homing one axis, have you tried G28 X?
If you don’t find a solution by this afternoon, I’ll fire it up and see what I can see. Google shows a bunch of results for people getting axes backwards or trying to figure out endstops. I’m almost certain I did this on my last job, one axis at a time.
You are using capital letters in the gcode, yes?
