Laser Advice - Cutting Acrylic

Hey,

What is the thickest acrylic you guys are cutting with Laser?
I want to cut acrylic, and even mirror acrylic.
Im guessing im best to just use the CNC to cut it, or get a CO2 laser.

But hey, thought Id see what you are all doing.

Until the day we have a MPLC  or a MPFL

You can cut acrylic with a diode laser, just not clear acrylic. I’ve never tried mirrored but it looks like it comes with a coating so I can’t see why not.

Hey, can you cut clear if it still has the paper protective layer, would be the same as mirror. Thanks

Im guessing the main benefit would be the finer cut, so i could cut smaller items with a laser than with the cnc router.

Am wanting to cut some mirrored acrylic too. All things considered, currently planning to CNC, am reluctant to invest in CO2 laser. But am also curious to hear alternative ideas from folks here.

Summary:

Not quite the same, mirrored reflects, clear doesn’t absorb. But I’ve never needed to try.
