Kobalt router

So very true. Thank goodness the EU has strong consumer protections that keep manufacturers and software companies that sell globally somewhat in line.

I was told that if my router fails, the 5 year warranty would mean a refund. But, since it’s running (but surging) it isn’t failed. So if it comes to that, my router will have a… failure.

They’re not going to test it at the desk, just tell them it’s not working.

Ours are clear as mud! Basically a product must be “fit for purpose” and there’s an implication in there that if a reasonable life expectancy for say a Makita product is three years, and a Kobalt is a much lesser price and quality, then the warranty may only be two years - I’ve not heard of less than two years as an “implied” warranty.

Apple kindly replaced an iPad keyboard for us after 2yrs and 7months because they considered it had not had a hard life and should not have failed in that time. Not all suppliers are as lenient with their interpretation of the law, but if the case is reasonable the response usually is.

That top piece shape is a Makita knockoff. The cobalt has a larger top piece and has an led integrated in the body.

‘What’s the runout on the spindle?’
‘Super low!’
‘Can you put a number on that at all, 0.01mm, 0.1mm, what?’
‘SUPER low!’
‘Riiiight’

Right!! I thought you were just pointing to the 2 er11 collets

To be fair, it has been available for a few years now.
