Jackpot power supply advice

Hi All!

These may be very stupid questions but what are the requirements for the power supply? I see on the shop Ryan sells a 24v 2.5A laptop style power supply, but is it the datasheet for the jackpot board shows input as 9-24VDC.

So my questions are

  1. Does that mean I can use a power supply I have around (12v - 10A) or do I need a 24v supply?
  2. Would a too large supply be a problem, I found a good deal locally (South Africa) on a 24V - 10A (250W) supply? Would that just blow my board up? :woman_shrugging::joy:
  3. Outside of possible, which would be preferred? I imagine one like being sold on the store.

I bought a jackpot board from the v1 shop and had a friend bring it to me in South Africa since shipping is a nightmare, just don’t want to see the dreaded blue smoke :joy:

Thanks in advance

Welcome to the V1 family Keelan. I am using a 24V - 30A power supply with no problems. You should be fine with the 10A.

Ah thank you Britt! Both for the welcome and the advice  I’ll most likely pick that 10A one up then.

I have just finished all the mechanical assembly, so moving onto way less comfortable territory but its been such a fun build thus far!

Hello and welcome  I have V1E map project (it is work in procress.) I would be so happy if you could add your machine into the map after the machine is ready (and map :see_no_evil:) ATM no mapped machines at Africa.

Ah thats super cool! and yeah I’d be proud to be the first MPCNC on your map from my continent  I’ll definitely add it once its up and running

The board will only draw what it draws, the rating on the ps is how much it’s capable of supporting. A 1000hp engine goes pretty slow when it’s at idle.
