Hi everyone,
I recently built an LR4 CNC with no prior experience and have been enjoying it so far. However, I’m encountering an issue with my setup during more aggressive cuts.
Problem:
When cutting along the X-axis (both directions), the gantry vibrates. Y-axis cutting movements stay smooth.
Despite the vibration, the end result appears fine to me.
Here are some slowmotion videos from the X-axis cuts:
Cutting Parameters:
- MDF
- 1750 mm/min
- Depth of Cut: 10 mm
- 6 mm 1-flute upcut endmill
- Stepover: 50%
- Makita RT0702C, dial set to 3
Machine Details:
- Working area: 500 mm x 1000 mm
- SKR Pro V1.2
- TMC2209
- Firmware: Marlin (default settings, 0.9A for the steppers)
I’ve seen Dougs Youtube Video (here) where he cut MDF with 12 mm DOC and 75% stepover at speeds beyond 100 mm/s, so I believe my settings should be manageable.
Does anyone know what might be causing this issue? I’d appreciate any insights or advice.
Thanks in advance!
