Idler pulley noise

My belt idler pulleys are a bit noisy. Is this normal? Seems to mainly happen on deceleration.

For squeaky idler noises… That seems normal to me. Previously had couple of squeaky Idlers that was easily resolved with a quick drop/spray of food grade superlube, which I also use on the EMT where bearings contact. Since then, I preemptively give the Idlers a quick spray after initial assembly.

For rattling noises… Something(s) probably needs snugging up more (just don’t over tighten. Sorry, I don’t know torque spec, you need to feels your way to success  ).

Nice to see dust on your LR4, and shapes cut out on the spoil board. Looks like your machine’s being used. Happy with your dust vac setup?

Have the squeaks always been there, or developed over time? Noticed some debris resting on the Y axis idlers that are squeaking…

If this is a common situation for people, maybe a simple dust deflector/guard/fenders would help reduce how frequently the idlers need cleaning and lubing.

I had the same problem that you have, but it was more than a little rattling when the teeth would grind the top of the idler. I think the belts should be seated 0.5mm lower in the belt holders, but could never verify.

I actually messed that up: the idlers need to be higher or the belts lower. It was just on Y-max on mine though.

Oh so did moving the gear on the motor fix the issue for you? Or how did you reposition?

I have some lube coming in the mail and will test it!

Overall the vac is doing great.

But I surfaced my spoilboard yesterday and that came with some extra dust. Usually for normal cutting there is next to no dust!

Overall my setup has been working pretty well. I did have a few times during the spoilboard surfacing where the machine would stop at random with the board being unresponsive.

My guess is that this had to do with static electricity from the vacuum hose, as a few test aircuts without the vacuum didn’t lead to this. Have a grounding cable coming in the mail tomorrow as well.

I didn’t, you can’t. The belt holders would have needed to be lower.

Your saying the belt holders mounted to the table are the wrong height correct? Not the idlers/motor alignment in the YZ plate. If it was the later then moving the gear on the motor would fix the misalignment so my assumption in the first part
