I’m tired of the extra cable for my pendant hanging on the floor when it’s docked in the cradle. The best idea I’ve come across so far is to have a loop of the cable pulled down by gravity like this:
Does anyone have a better idea?

That is thinking there!!! Wow! Only thing different i could say is use another pulley and spring so it stays under the desk and does not drop
Wait you have everything mount the pulleys different and put a sping to the table where the weight is!

Depending on the type of cable used, length needed, etc., there are some (mostly USB) retractable cables available on Amazon/Alibaba, etc.
Some of them are charging only (no data), so you would need to be careful when selecting.
Or there are some coiled cables that you could use to build your own (non-USB).
But I like your solution. Very DIY!

That reminds me of the weight on the cable of the hose under my sink. I’d like to photograph it, but it is impossible with the sink and garbage disposal in the way.
You always have to watch for flying poo then

I will be getting a coiled cable for sure. I am just not sure how long I would actually use. I do not see myself moving it more than 2 feet from the yz plate but I am going to wait for some use before I buy anything.
Harder to fling poo with no mechanical assistance. Sorry. I like the coiled telephone type cords or a cord suspended from above with a spring or trolley of some sort
