I’ve fallen in down YET another youtube-rabbit-hole. This time I’ve been reading up on gears. I used a rubber band for the tumbler, but it didn’t stay put - and I was afraid the rubber would slip when freezing.
Soo - the youtube-wisdom is saying that herringbone gears are the new loud! Regular spurs are so 2020. The teeth grip each other in a smoother way, ensuring a more even distrubition of force and less noise. And they also keep each other in line with each other.
