I have an idea to extend the Lowrider a little further, but I’ll need at least one of the two remaining FluidNC axes. Been looking at some extension boards, but I don’t yet have a full comprehension on which boards are compatible with the Jackpot3.
I want to add 1-2 TMC2226 drivers to extend the B and C axes for control that can be a bit plug and play with some config.yaml settings. Bonus if it has its own power rail so it doesn’t draw power directly from the Jackpot3.
Took a quick dive down on the Doberman board, this thing is a beast for the price - although the drivers would be addons.
It’s also a 12V system so not directly compatible. I think I have a few 24V-12V regulators in my parts bin, but it does introduce a third power voltage requirement which does get a little cumbersome. If I stick with the 24V steppers it looks like I can wire them directly, but then use a common ground?
The controller should be powered by 12V. Your power supply should be able to provide about 1A for the basic controller functions plus whatever current is attached to the MOSFET terminal. The terminal block is rated for 10A. It should be connected to the “Vin” pins on the green terminal block. Double check the polarity before powering on, but there is reverse polarity protection.
This is what I read on the Doberman FluidNC description. Now if it was designed for that much of a voltage tolerance then that would be very cool.
