How to use an indicator to square and measure accuracy of MPCNC?

I have, in general, had a hard time perfectly squaring my MPCNC. It is pretty inaccurate. I plan to rebuild it using the latest primo design. Currently I am working with the Archim v1.0 board, and dual end stop setup. I have been handed down a Starrett Indicator and had the idea of using this to help square my next build as accurately as possible. Has anyone tried something similar? Any advice? Places to buy reference surfaces? How to properly square the system ahead of time to help with final accuracy?

The official instructions are pretty detailed, you should be able to find all your answers there.
