How tall can you make the machine without any significant loss to accuracy? I plan to make it using all of the standard parts including the recommended conduits.
Edit: The website lists 12 inches as the recommended max height but I am still curious as to how much I would lose out on if I made mine higher.
Depends on what you’re doing. Basically every task benefits from a short z. I print with only about 16cm of usable z space, which is pretty short for a 3d printer. If you’re drilling it is good to keep it very short as there’s more of a rigidity factor. Any strain on the z axis is multiplied, the longer it gets. Accuracy only gets better as you shorten it. “significant” accuracy depends on what your tolerances are. There’s some good stuff on the q and a section.
