I just fitted a camera to my new machine.
It is permanently located on the Z axis and set square with the bed.
I made a small cross on a scrap piece and moved the gantry and positioned an engraving bit with a narrow point to the cross, and then zeroed the coordinates.
I raised the camera to be 20mm above the “workpiece” as I am sure that using the same height each time would be important for accuracy.
I then moved the gantry so that the camera would align with the same cross and I wrote down the new coordinates.
I added these coordinates into Estlcam CNC settings.
What I am asking is, how do I make use of this camera now that I have it set up? Was this the correct way to set it up? What are the advantages of having it?
“I don’t know why I need it and what it does, but I need it!” - Me, every project, and obviously you as well.
Regarding your questions I really can’t help you, sorry!
I searched online and could find very little on the subject. No-one seems to know much about it at all.
I can see where it would be an advantage to be able to use in some situations for locating the zero points of X and Y, but having no details of how it can be used in Estlcam defeats the purpose of having it at all.
