Help with first print

Yeah I was thinking stuff from V1 specifically. Good catch!

Purple Thread Locker is what I use and has worked well for the grub screws (suggested by @MakerJim)

And one of these metal tape measures from Ryan is real handy for setting square!

I’m currently putting together the list of final pieces/parts needed, as I’m closing in on finishing the printed parts. From this list, what is not included in the V1 shop kit (if I include all the optionals like touchplate (which is out of stock currently), jackpot, etc…)?

I’m grabbing the vac hose, thread lock and wire sleeve on amazon - I’ll end up likely getting lube as well, but the link in the docs is not currently available - anything specific to look for, or would something like this work?

Your kit will come with some lube. Enough for first start and several uses. See if this link will work for you. Superlube

Wait, wait, wait, what you sellin now?

Not me, Ryan

The LR4 kit comes with a small thing of lube for the lead screws

Calm down there bucko, you can get your own in bulk if needed.

WD40 is not a lubricant. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Correct, it’s actually a solvent

Well aren’t we particular. Fine this is bulk lubricant but not ideal for a lowrider.

I was trying to not be a complete deviant and link the adult version.

I paused before sharing it anyway.

Side story: Back when Amazon Alexa first came out, a guy at work got a device, brought it to work, and went on vacation. When he came back, he had “55 gallon drum of lube” on his shopping list among other things.

In the parts table here, which control board box should I print for the board that comes as an option with the kit?

| | Jackpot | Jackpot3 |

If you buy a hardware kit and add the jackpot3, you will want the jackpot 3 box. But it depends on when you bought and what board you added.

Just pulled the trigger on my LR4 parts kit purchase..

Now to wait for the touchplate to come back in stock and get myself a new makita router..

I’m printing the YZ_Max plate currently, and then only have the tool mount and core to print… (my parts box is looking full)

I’ve got some ideas on my first table, but will wait until I get my struts cut before I make any decisions.. I have some unused warehouse shelving I’ve been cutting apart for projects - the c-channel steel would be pretty nice for a rigid base (I’ve a cheap mig welder I play with). The shelves also came with some MDF shelf boards, which would do nicely for the table top and spoil board I think…

Although, as my spools run low, this build is going to end up colorful… not that it matters

How can you sleep at night??? Where’s the name? Where’s the theme??? Just a random collection of colours?? I am going to be sick…

To be perfectly honest, you’re 100% correct. I actually just put in a bulk order of pink PLA and am reprinting everything now that I have experience with each part. It’ll be called the Princess Bubblegum LowRider :+1:.

And I haven’t slept since that first failed print; too busy questioning my life choices

Seriously though, I think I’m going to love this machine…

ETA: this’ll likely be the conclusion of this thread - once I get the core printed and kit delivered from V1, I’ll start a new thread in “Your Builds” to document my struggle.. erm I mean journey. Stay tuned kids!

When I ordered my Primo kit from V1 just getting started and I was asked about colours, I believe that I said something like: “I just don’t want it look like it came off the Hasbro My Little Pony assembly line.”

Well… Okay, then. :joy:

In retrospect, the colour really didn’t matter to me, and the machine got dirty enough that you can no longer really tell what colour most of the plastic is.

…challenge accepted?
