Help installing dual end stops? Any Diys out there or videos? Detailed builds??

My machine is almost put together and im doing homework on final assembly as well as software. I bought the kit with the dual end stop as I thought I could figure it out.

I was wondering if anyone has any videos or detailed photos/instructions on how to setup the dual endstops? I found the stuff on the site here obviously https://www.v1engineering.com/auto-square-dual-endstops/ But I was hoping for maybe a little more step by step info to get going.

I got the rambo board and I was wondering do I need to upload anything additional to it firmware wise??? I know its said its going to complicate things to go for the dual endstops for a newbie like myself but with a little guidance I believe I can figure it out.

First step is the get everything wired right. Remember to match X and X_MIN, X1 and X_MAX, Y and Y_MIN, Y1 and Y_MAX (X1 and Y1 are E0 and E1 respectively, and at the ends away from the home corner). When you have those wired fire up Repetier-Host, connect to the board and issue the M119 command. You should see OPEN with all endstops and it should show all of them. If it’s only showing X, Y and Z then you have the wrong firmware installed, if it’s showing any as TRIGGERED you have the endstops wired wrong.
Next step is to test the endstops. Click the switch on X and verify X is triggered, do the same for X1, Y and Y1. If they all trigger correctly you should be ready to try to draw the crown using Ryan’s gcode. Remember to draw with something like 0.5mm depth of cut so the pen doesn’t get torqued to the side…

Bill thank you for the info!!!

As far as the end stops goes is the idea to put the little plastic stops in the far most corners on the belt when the machine is homed??

Actually, I think you put them to the left on the X axis rails, and bottom on the Y axis rails, so everything gets triggered when it homes to the origin.

Thats what I had in mind. Ill hopefully have those mounted tonight or tomorrow depending on when I get home from work. Im getting super anxious over here!

So im making some progress on my build. After getting the wiring semi ran (still need drag chains) I managed to get the steppers plugged into the board and got them all to move, granted the belts are not hooked up yet. I still have to get super small zip ties to mount the end stop switches to the brackets but I ran M119 in Repetier and saw all 4 shown as “open” and when I taped them closed they all showed “triggered” so im guessing im good or do I need to switch them so they are always triggered???

"For the safest configuration the endstops should be wired in the Normally Closed position (NC), to prevent wire disconnects from damaging the machine during the homing sequence."

How insane do you need to get with mounting the stops on the belts for the end-stops as far as getting them all the same exact distance from that correlating corner post??

Try to get them as close as you can. Then you can adjust out the rest in software.

Thanks everyone for the tips!!!

Since I bought the Rambo board 1.4 from V1 with the dual endstop kit does that mean I still have to flash the firmware on it?? Im not sure how to tell.

If so is this the firmware I need?https://github.com/Allted/Marlin/archive/MPCNC_Rambo_T8_16T_LCD_DualEndstop.zip

Sorry im really new to all this lol

That’s the right firmware, but it should be installed already. Test the endstops one at a time. You might have two swapped and it wouldn’t show when all tested at once.
