Awesome!
if it holds for 5 minutes, it is more than strong enough… next, get out the heat gun and slowly control the room temperature until you get up to…
Sure, but couldn’t they both be spade shape? My ocd is kicking in from it not being symmetrical.
No, it’s functional. Note the orientation. On the left, you need the spade shape because it’s a closed shape. On the right, you have the gap for the belt to exit. This serves the same role as the tip of the spade so that no supports are required.
Tell your OCD that there’s no assymetry, and imagine it standing upright. There’s a spade with a gap on the bottom, and a circle with a gap on the top. As it should be.
I did the same thing. Because of how we print it the side on the plate is “stronger” and needs the spade to make that hole printable, the other side has a 45 degree chamfer on the back, and they will create a void.
If it helps anywhere there are two holes I can make one a spade…then we have a name for the printer?
Don’t forget this also squishes between your extruder and the bearing block…we can actually make this a few mm thinner is it helps anything.
I tried to keep all the load off the rest that does not sit in front of the bearing block to minimize and chance of deformation.
Having the right be a spade wouldn’t serve a functional purpose, but it should still print ok
This is everything XY except endstop provisions. That has a touch over a true 12mm of XY tension adjustment on each side. V4 had 10 but the belts got pulled into place so it was probably 5-6 for most people.
Everything else is just flipped over, not mirrored. so Super easy BOM.
No front screw tension block needed this uses the Rail to push off of.
The XY has 11 unique parts…unless we need some more for the endstops. Sensorless homing is an option, but I would really prefer to also have hardware endstops available. Space is tight, not seeing anything obvious yet.
Other than extruder specific changes to the core anyone see anything funky? If you need to look at the CAD it is linked in the first post and I have the rails pretty functional so you can move it if you need a visual aid.
The BED and bed location are not fully parametric yet but I think I have that figured out now.
Getting close to Z time.
Next we’re going to find out that every V1e machine has a secretly embedded face expression as an easter egg… The gasp on the LR3 core, the mustached face on the MP3DP V5, where else are these lurking? (Maybe just needing googly eyes or sharpie lines to make them clear)
Oh and I want to make some of the plates look a bit more fancy…
That is easily my fav
This is really nice. Having lots of parts is OK, but having lots of part TYPES gets unmanageable and frustrating.
Agreed.
So far as I’m following along it looks pretty good.
Edit to add: That Mustached face above on the test print actually looks more like a hermit crab to me. So if that stands, that’s what I’ll call my build when it goes together.
Make a character for your belt face person.
Then you have a name and a mascot
There I fixed it for you. lol.
In all seriousness endstops are for sure my preferred way. I have zero desire to mess with sensorless homing. Just my .02
Just lost power, rare around here. Not going to be a productive day. Up to 70mph gusts, could be a while for a fix, two chunks of the town are out of power now
So did you have 8 bed crashes all at once???
Hopefully there aren’t any overhead power lines to get blown down and start fires.
We get crazy gusts of wind a handful of times here through the year. I’ve seen hoods blown off cars, and an 4-story tall overhead roll up door blown out of a building.
We had a brief outage yesterday from rain turning over to super wet snow, and about a week ago from who knows what. Sometimes go a year without a power hit otherwise.
Power is back on, but no internet, so let’s see how my hotspot does. Tree came out of the ground 3 houses down, went to the other side of town and there was a McDonalds sign in the road.
I had not gone down and started them for the day yet…Sunday lazy day.
Sounds like some real crazy weather! Good thing you hadn’t started them yet. Would suck to lose that many prints lol
