Hello Pumpkin - Thoughts on carve quality?

Simple little cut, but what do you think about my carves? I guess I expected these to flow into each other more. You can see where the tool picked up and plunged again.

Here is a close up

This is how I setup the job in Estlcam. I am using fence pickets, so I set my starting depth to 1mm to compensate for the flatness. I had similar, just not as deep results in my other tests.

Basically, I want my machine to cut out the words, like I am hand writing it.

I think creating unions in Inkscape between the overlapping letters helps a little bit. I think Estlcam struggles with overlapping carves

If your letters have endings where the carve ends then it wont flow through like you are hoping. Using something like inkskape or another editor to take those letter ends off and make them flow together will then let estlcam create a continuous carve like you are looking for. I think the one you did looks great but fixing those letters can help a lot

Yeah, that part is fine.

Like look at the โ€œelโ€ in hello above. There is an extra ridge that I would have to sand off.

If I get rid of the overlapping, and make it a single path, Estlcam looks better

and other than me going to deep, I think the problem is resolved.
