Heckmeck am Bratwurmeck (Pickomino) Box

My daughter’s godmother really likes to play Heckmeck am Bratwurmeck and I had always wanted to make a custom box for her with her favourite worm (no. 24, the Christmas Worm… :P). So I scanned the playing piece and made it into a box.
Wood is chestnut with Black Walnut and Red Heart inlays. You can see that the game’s pieces have those colours as well. I am really happy how it turned out.

And yes, the chestnut is bookmatched… :stuck_out_tongue:

You lazy bum, you didn’t make the playing pieces and die with inlays out of wood as well? Yesh.

JK, looks awesome. Especially getting all of the lips and magnet holes lined up on both side to make everything fit snug; I’m sure it took a few trials to get this type of workflow smooth.

That’s just experience. 0.25mm offset for the lip does the trick when using a finishing pass, but only with a new endmill… :stuck_out_tongue: With an old one im purple heart there is still deflection and you need to go for 0.45mm. The magnet holes are easy. I basically design one side of the box and then mirror it in AutoCAD, make the lip 0.25mm smaller and that’s it.
