I’ve always exported my ai files to dxf and brought them into a program like estlcam to create gcode. Just have to make sure everything is ungrouped and shapes are changed to paths before export - same with text.
Don’t know if you can create gcode within Ai. There might be a plug in or addon out there somewhere. Never bothered to look.
I did a bit of looking around, and found this video which references these tools. So, there does appear to be a direct-to-g-code solution for Adobe Illustrator. You will need to explore to make sure it has the features you need. V-carving seems to be used a lot in sign making, so you should make sure v-carving is supported. Plus you need to make sure that it produces g-code that Marlin can understand.
I wouldn’t be surprised if it is lacking in functionality and support, and you need to seek a different CAM solution.
