FreeCAD 1.0 Release

It looks like FreeCAD 1.0 is released. I’ve been learning it using RC2 and it has come a long way.

Unfortunately, it sounds like one of the main devs who worked on the topological naming problem has passed away. This is some meaningful work to leave behind.

you know I saw the obit, but I was unaware why it was listed. Wow!

Hmm, it still downloads the older version. :frowning:

I think 1.0 is stil rc yet. you can download it though

The main page still has a 0.21 download. This is final 1.0 release not an RC.

Yea, looks like they’re still pushing it out.

I did read that topological is not yet fixed, but extremely mitigated.

There are ways it can yet happen.

That is actually true for all CAD software. Some mitigate the issue better than others, however you can trigger TNP even in the $10,000 commercial software. The FreeCAD team has been careful to point this out. Although I would agree that the solution implemented is not as robust as the commercial equivalents, it is actually fairly close.

Looks like it’s official now.
