Free Lowrider 3 in Georgia

In 2023 I built the lowrider 3 big enough to cut 4x8 material. I added the modifications from Design8 Studios he had at the time. I’ve used it to make an assortment of signs and some furniture but haven’t used it much in the last year. I’m moving soon and don’t have the room to take it with me, so it would be stuck sitting in storage for a couple years before I would be somewhere with enough room to reassemble and use it. I could disassemble it and pack it away in storage, but if there is someone in the area who wants it, you’re welcome to grab it for free. I would rather give it to someone who is interested in the project than let it collect dust.

I’m in Augusta, GA. No strings attached and no hidden “pickup fee” or anything, if you want the lowrider you can come pick it up. No, I won’t deliver it or meet you somewhere with it.

Update: thanks to @Beans suggestion I reached out to the local High School and they seem excited to take it for their engineering class!

When you get back to a suitable space, it’ll be time for a LR4 or maybe by then we have a LR5.

It’s really awesome of you to pass your machine on. I hope the good Karma from that will propel you forward till your next build.

Any chance there’s a school nearby that would take it? Middle/High/College? Another option is a library or a maker-space. No matter what you do, that’s a generous gift, bud.

@Beans I hadn’t thought about a local school, I’ll check that idea out!

Maybe not what you had in mind: I’d pay to have you ship just the gantry to me. I’d then take all the hardware, bolts, nuts, linear bearings, motors, wires and controller to build a friend or the local robotics team an lr4… Dm me if you dont get a local taker. I’ve already built and placed 2 other lr4s so it is a realistic option. I enjoy the build and it brings others into the fold. I dont make money on these. The end user sources the required additional parts and helps build.

I got a guy who wants it. Have you had any local takers?

The engineering teacher at the local high school said she wanted to take it and use it at the school, but so far she hasn’t made any arrangements to pick it up. I’m going to give her a little more time to make a plan to come get it, but if she doesn’t then it’s back up for grabs.

The table is getting picked up tomorrow, I appreciate the idea to give it to the local high school. Thanks everyone!

Superb! I was just over at the theater at my son’s art school and the tech crew is using a 3d printer to build props, lighting components, adapters, etc. I’m thinking about talking to some of the boosters about building a small LowRider to help them build set pieces.
