FluidNC File Extension

Can Fluid NC run .nc files? I am using a mini rambo 1.4 now and use .gcode, but I want to be able to use Carbide Create which out puts .nc files.

Yes it can.

.nc is just another file extension for gcode files. FluidNC ought to recognize it.

.nc can be renamed to .gcode, they are both a text file.

More importantly is what is in them, A Marlin based file is not the same as a GRBL/fluidNC based file. That is what you actually need to pay attention to.

For Marlin v. GRBL Gcode, I’m reminded of what a friend of mine said about the history of theJapanese and Chinese. “They understand just enough of each other’s written language to get really insulted by each other.”

Both Marlin and GRBL use similar codes, and most will work as expected, which seems to make it worse when so.ething doesn’t go as expected, because other stuff did work as expectrd. For example the test crown gcode works on both, because it doesn’t get into the differences.

Help me to understand, does it depend on the post processor and the file xt doesnt really mean anything. When I was researching this, there was another post and in it the idea that .nc and .gcode are similar but different enough that it could cause problems. I seem to remember the original poster going thru the code an adding 0 to all the coordinates.

Also, the mini rambo 1.4 runs Marlin, what does the Jackpot run? Is it the Fluid NC?
Please forgive my ignorance, I am really trying to understand

Yep. For FluidNC compatible gcode, I would try using the GRBL post processor in Carbide Create.

Yes, Jackpot is FluidNC which is GRBL based.
