Flat Spot in Conduit

I’ve searched and found mention of the flat spot in EMT (the seam where it’s welded) needing to be reoriented for better operation but haven’t found mention 0f a preferred method of its alignment during assembly? I’m also curious if drilling the Z rails on the flat spot may be good, bad, or indifferent?

Hi Paul,
As long as the bearings are not running on top of the “Flat spot” you will be fine.
For the Z axis, that is exactly what I did.

Thanks! I’m assembling parts now but at first glance it looked to me as if putting the flat spot on the bottom would work? And I guess I’ll go ahead and drill the Z rails on the flat spot.
