Okay, it’s not that impressive, but it is literally the first thing that I tried with estlcam and a mode3l I downloaded from NASA. Cut from some scrap insulation foam with a 1/8” 2 flute spiral upcut to rough, and a 1mm tapered ball bit for the finishing pass. First thing I tried that used my Z probe and a tool change in the middle of a job. Baby steps, going boldly where others have gone before (but which are still new to me.)

A lot of those topo 3d maps exaggerate the Z.
Fun fact: if you scaled the earth down to the size of a cue ball, it would actually be significantly smoother than a typical cue ball.
Pretty good carve, if you ask me. I think the “technical” achievement is there. The “art” just needs some iteration to increase the impact.
