Finally getting around to doing some cutting tests with the new machine. This thing is fun! Going to try out some more complex stuff and start posting more videos very soon

Try a 3d carve that fits in the window with no moving to try out your motion system.

Wow what a cool project! I had no idea this was a thing, I’ve seen some of the products that do this stuff (forget what they’re called) but this is way cooler!

Here we go a little ball nose cut. Just an arbitrary form to test it out.

In hindsight this wasn’t really the best design to show details hahah but it seemed to work pretty well. Surface quality is super smooth.

I’ll do some more intricate stuff later but I gotta finish some other things first. Also I’m printing a little homing bracket right now so that I can do some tool changes :eyes:

It is so freaking cool. It was really great at RMRRF to not only play with the machine but to see all the people who came up and were astounded by the machine.

Just saw the update email excited to get one built and try it out. I’ve got almost all the wood I need for the two acoustic builds and will be trying this out to see how it will do with cutting the top and back.

Wooo that’s awesome! I’m excited to see that. A guitar project is at the top of my list for next projects too, but I will probably start with a simple electric. I have never made one before so acoustic sounds pretty intimidating

Also, I’ve been so bad at posting updates recently, but here are a couple cut tests from the past week or two:

That bowtie is amazing, that is really impressive. Also, a fantastic use case for this CNC.

Yeah I was pretty impressed! That and joinery are really exciting areas to explore more

Just got done with a couple more cuts. Getting back to this cleaver handle project after long wait:

I can probably improve my feeds and speeds a bit

You will be saying this at every project. The first time these guys pushed me to push the limits, my several minute feeds and speeds turned into a 14 second cut. I don’t always go that fast but I start off a little faster these days.
