Finally

Hi guys. I finally have the X gantry of my LR4 up and moving correctly. I had endstop issues (bad connections) that wouldn’t allow it to move. Removed my wire loom and redid all the connections, testing as I went.

Well, I tested all the way up to where I plugged in the extensions. Started testing and Z was working but not X. Off comes the wire loom again (which is heat shrunk on by the way), to find a pin had slipped out of the Dupont connector. Repaired that and all is working as it should, best I can tell. Now to set limits and start on the Y rail.

Anyway, I’d like to know what the majority uses for cam software. I use fusion daily at work, so I can use it for cad if needed. I want to be able to V-Carve, so should I go ahead and get the vectric software or is there something close that is cheaper? What are your thoughts?

Thanks,

Russell

I use EstlCAM to create the gcode, along with Fusion (personal license) to create the drawing files.

EstlCAM is robust, easy to use, and quite inexpensive (free, actually, if you don’t mind the upgrade reminders).

It does lack a few features that more expensive software (Vectric, Lightburn) has, but for most functions, it is the go-to choice around here.

Estlcam can easily do it. No need to shell out for V-carve when starting out. :slightly_smiling_face:

What he said, you will find most of us use estlcam around here. The creator even visits our fourms and answers questions!
