Fencing tube

Will fence tube from home depot be ok as replacement for EMT

Do you have a link to the part? Fundamentally if it’s steel, the right diameter, has a decently thick wall and is straight then I would guess it’d be fine. If there’s a surface finish on it like powder coating or hot-dip galvanizing that might need a bit of thought if it’s too weak or rough to not make a good rolling surface.

Edit:
Just had a look on their website and saw this:

Is that what you’re looking at? 1.25" OD, 0.091" wall, galv steel?

Is there a specific reason you would rather use that than 1" EMT from Home Depot?

HomeDepot, many hardware stores (like Rona or Home Hardware) and any electrical supply house have 1" EMT.

If its straight and doesn’t have a seam then I don’t see why you couldn’t run it and the 32mm size files. I believe @SupraGuy runs that same size on his. But I will say I have a full sheet set up to cut 50" wide and don’t have any issues with the 1" EMT

If you want to try it, print y-rail clips of the various sizes available and head to the store to try them out.

You only need a couple pieces, though, so in the scheme of things you might not want to blaze a trail here.

my concern is not about the thickness as i an use a Vernia caliper to measure it or as you mention print a sample and test it, but as it’s cheaper i’m just warried if it’s not perfectly round or could be just because it’s not not in high demand as EMT.

Also in Canada. The 1.25" OD steel is way cheaper for me because I work for a company that specializes in steel tube.

The 32mm size print parts work reasonably well, with some things being just a touch loose, but within tolerance.

I had good results, but also had good resilts with 1" tube on the LR3, which is much less rigid than the LR4.

What kind of tube and where to get it from please,

1.25" OD DOM steel tube. Metal Supermarkets should have it. If you live in Edmonton, Calgary, Cambridge or Whitby, I can recommend a place you can get it cheaper than Metal Supermarkets.
