Fast endmill change?

I was wondering if there is any quick-change chuck/collect endmill adapter for the Makita Router, I ready some stuff in the forum and online but didn’t understand it well, mine gets pretty stuck so every time I need to remove the router from the machine and wrestle with the wrenches every time, so I was wondering if there is a easier way.

Seen a few people reference musclechuck. I’ve not seen anyone go full automatic tool changer on LR4, yet …

Stop collars on the bits help save time with getting consistent height/depth.

How many endmill types do you need per job, if just 2, and almost always 2, and regularly machining, then, consider IDEX (adding 2nd core + router) similar to Jamie’s LR3 build.

Not many, nor I plant to do automatic tool changes, its just that ANY tool change is a hassle I saw the muscle chuck does it fit the Makita?

I don’t see the makita in their compatibility chart.

Yeah, I couldn’t find via their website directly either, I ended up google searching to find 1/4 inch Musclechuck – Musclechuck compatible with Makita RT0701C that many V1E folks have. Didn’t see 1/8" yet. I don’t have musclechuck, and am not planning to buy, am more likely to live with 2 wrench install as-is, or, tinker with other options.

I used to have that problem as well with the Makita and sometimes needed tongues to get the endmill out. I never took it out though.

Was there not a better way to, uh, lubricate it???

It’s not supposed to slip out during the act, so… not really. Don’t want to ruin your tool by ramming it into the wrong part.

I am just made of questions right now.

The bit is likely getting stuck due to dust build up inside the collet. Whenever I tool change and I notice dust, I give the collet a quick couple taps with the wrench to disperse the dust- you’d be surprised how much can get packed in there. I’d try that on the next few runs.
