I have been wanting to build a CNC router for a while and finally settled on the Low Rider. Can the plates be cut manually or are the tolerances tight enough that they need to be CNC’d? I don’t see an option in the store to purchase pre-cut plates. Can you suggest some places where I can get them fabricated?
That would be very tough to do manually. If you were off, things would bind, and things might not be square. Worse, is if the Z axis doesn’t end up square to the work. I’ll let Ryan answer about availability in his shop. There are other fab shops online that can make custom cuts. A friend of mine made his MP3DP that way. It was not cheap though.

It would be tough by hand, not recommended. I have been setting up to make a few batches of parts. I have been making tons of test cuts and tweaking setting to make this a viable option. I even went and talked with a production house. You can have a look at the video I just put up of a test batch.
I have a set ready but it is spoken for, I will do my best to get a second set ready shortly. I believe the parts will be $80-$100 Not sure yet. It takes a lot of time and some post cnc cleanup for all the holding tabs.
If you can drop me a email in a day or two I can let you know if I have a set ready, but I will do my best to get them in the shop ASAP.

I don’t think this should be such a big deal to do it by hand.
Just print the drawings on a paper and stick it on your wood plank, then cut and drill accordingly using jigsaws, drillpress or whatever tool you have.
The outlines aren’t really that important. You really need to get the holes in the right place though. Some brad point bits would help. The slots are also going to be tough, but I guess they don’t have to be perfect. My fear is that you’ll have the screw holes a little off, and the machine won’t be square. But maybe it will be square enough to cut the low rider parts with the CNC? Sounds like a lot of work too, but I do think it’s doable.
Yea, I was thinking you could probably get it close enough to use it to make proper parts.

You’re wanting to do it by hand?
You can use a call program, like OnShape or libreCAD to measure dimensions. They will both let you either just read the dimensions or make labels and print.
You could also print the files and stick them to the wood. That’s what I mostly see people do when they don’t have a CNC. Woodgears.ca has a “big print program” that is good for that sort of thing.
The dxf was designed in mm, btw.
