Hi.. looks like if I want to keep using 4 foot wide stock I need to expand my table width by 3.5” when upgrading from the LR2 to the LR4 ? Any suggestions?
I’m trying to keep the weight light since my table is “only” 100lbs and flips up on arms to store against the wall. So far I’m thinking 3d print some brackets for the sides of the table with some 1/2” mdf attached to the top I can adjust flat with the brackets.
Can you post a picture of your existing table? That will help us try to give you ideas.
Wow, what an interesting table design. Do you have pictures of it deployed? And/or side pictures showing the table along the Y axis looking toward the side of the table that the Y axis rides on?

That is an impressive folding table build! Someone just asked about a folding table design, this would be the masterclass version.
It looks like you have a few inches on the top near the wheels, could you add a section there to add on the EMT tubing that the LR4 Max side will go on?
It also looks like you have a little bit of space on the floor side too. How much free space do you have to use and still safely use the table? If none, is there a possibility to raise the table at all?

A few people have added rails to the outside of their tables for various reasons. Some people use unistrut. But if I were you, I would make them from plywood. Something like two surfaces 90 degrees from each other and some triangle braces would be good. I can’t tell from the design if they would fit along that top edge, or if one on either edge would work better.
The dimensions do change a bit from version to version. But now the whole machine fits on top.
Do you use dual endstops on your build? It’s basically necessary on the LR3/4.
I am building from scratch as opposed to upgrading.. the old machine had dual endstops and the new one will too. Maybe I could design some kind of 3d printed arm that would hold the rail 3.5 inches off the side of the table? I’m almost done the entire gantry so when I get that together maybe I’ll take a photo of how it sits.
