Engraved watch box for my son

Some pics of my latest project, a walnut watch box, quadrant hinges, lined interior with 3d printed watch holders. Came out really nicely, the initial monogram was AI generated.

Oh I like that very much.

Can you tell a bit more about the engraving - is that your own design, what software and tooling did you use to do it?

Thanks  The design was generated by Google AI - the prompt was along the lines of “create an image of an elaborate FSP monogram suitable for carving in a box lid” and from there after a few iterations it gave me this

I took that into VCarve and traced the bitmap then carved it with a 90 degree bit.

Here’s the 3d printed template I designed (based off of the Brusso template dimensions) and used for the hinges, this worked great.

That box is probably going to be around a very long time. Nice work!

outstanding work! Love the hinges. I have made a couple of watch boxes and went with a really plain flat hinge on the back. these are much more elegant. great job!

Really well executed. It looks awesome, especially with the extra effort on the quadrant hinges.

I was a little (very) concerned regards getting those hinges on correctly, big sigh of relief when they were in place
