Endmill starter set

Hello,

I need a recommendation on a set of endmills for the new MPCNC / Dewalt 660 owner. I’m planning on starting with a few acrylic and wood engraving projects. I’d like to order a few together to save on shipping.

I know that I need the 1/8" Single Flute Carbide Endmill and for more detail, the 1/16" 2 Flute Carbide EndMill.

I also have a project in mind on acrylic that needs a Ball-end so I presume Ball End 1/8" Stub 2 Flute Carbide EndMill.

Any comments or suggestions on additions or substitutions?

Thanks!

Phil

V bit is nice for engraving, I have 90, 60 and 30 degree bits, but I use the 60 the most.

I think I ordered 2 of each to start. Dont get sucked into large expensive bits or sets unless you know you need them. I ordered a Whiteside surfacing bit thinking I had to surface my spoil board and have never taken it out of the package.

I mostly use 1/8, 1/16, 1/32 end mills and 1/2" 90 degree v bits. I really dont use ball nose end mills but I mostly cut small signs and cuttingboard inlays.

I would recomend 2 of each bit that makes sense for you to have if you can afford it.

That surfacing bit will come in handy after your spoil board has a few dozen dimples from screwing stuff down to it. I used a sharp wood chisel at first before I remembered I had the surfacing bit. Only need to take half a mm off, so you can go fairly quick.

This one? https://www.amazon.com/Whiteside-Spoilboard-Surfacing-Router-Shank/dp/B071748JQN/ref=sr_1_2?keywords=Whiteside+surfacing+bit&qid=1554737659&s=gateway&sr=8-2

Not the same as mine, but will work.

I think that’s the one I have. I have T-track hold down setup and have never needed to surface anything.

Ahh, you got fancy from the start!
