Enclosure Cooling

I am planning on a small enclosure for the RAMBO board, PS and a little bit of logic. I’ll be using the MPCNC only as a router. My question is about the cooling requirements of the RAMBO board. Knowing how sawdust has the ability to get anywhere, I would like to use a sealed enclosure, but I am concerned about proper cooling of the board and PS.

Does everyone use a fan, natural cooling or no cooling?

Any successful tricks to keep the dust out?

Thx, Mike

Active cooling with two small fans.

My board is mounted in a case upside down on the bottom of the spoiler board inside a little cubby so that the fans push air up onto the board. While some dust probably makes it up to it, it’s minimal compared to what gravity is pulling down.

Thanks David,

I have acquired a nice Rittal box to house the board, PS and E-stop relay. I’m planning on adding an E-stop button, a Reset button and a switch to Start/Stop the router itself to the cabinet door. This cabinet will be essentially airtight with cable glands for the entry/exit cables.

Unless I find some required cooling info, I think I’ll try it tight and monitor it’s temperature for a while. I can always cut in a outlet fan and a filtered inlet later.

I’ll post a photo when complete.

Don’t forget, the fan needs to blow on the bottom of the board. The stepper drivers use the board for a heat sink.
