Dust shoe with traditional bristles?

Been looking for a remix of the dust shoe to use a more traditional CNC bristles but no luck. Was seeing if anyone happened to already do it before I try to fumble my way through it.

The traditional brushes are way too long to be used. I tried it with the LR3 but it’s not working. The TPU bristles are available in two sizes, the sets I send out include both, so you can easily swap between them.

They are also more flexible and ensure that the dust shoe doesn’t snatch on a workpiece.

Why do you want to use “normal” ones?

The reason is because shipping and cost. I can get a fairly large roll of the normal style of bristle for about $10 and get it free 2-day shipping. I don’t have a TPU printer so I would need to order them. Getting them from the v1 shop would take about a week and it’s $5 a pop and I would assume the plastic would wear down more than the bristle.

However your point on it getting snatched in the cutting head is worry some, as I’d rather not put the machine through that stress if it did happen.

For me they have lasted a lot longer than I thought they would! You might be surprised.

I’ve been using mine for a year and they only got minor damage.

I like them so much that I am adapting them to another dust shoe.

I ordered 2 sets from the shop. It made me pretty uneasy thinking that the machine might get damaged if the bristles got wrapped up into it. Would rather replace some cheap brushes then the more expensive machine

It’s impossible, they are not long enough. I even use the longer version with my 6mm endmills. They fit exactly and are just half a mm shy of touching the bit, even when getting sucked at by the vacuum. :slightly_smiling_face:

I’m pretty sure that he’s talking about the “CNC Brushes”, which are almost 2" (50mm) long, not the TPU printed skirts.
