I was wondering what people are using for pad under the vinyl/decal you’re cutting. Saw this clip of something that looks very promising (green pad) but not sure what it is and can’t find it:

The first thing that comes to mind is a self healing cutting mat, available at most craft stores. Maybe dust it with a little 3M spray adhesive to hold your sheets of material.

I agree. Something like this, but multiple sizes are available. Mine has a ruler, grid, and angle guides printed on it (as well as several glue drips). Looks to me like this one is mounted printed side down.
On the Cameo Silouhette I bought 10 years ago, they provide an adhesive cutting mat that ressembles the one shown quite a lot: https://www.silhouetteamerica.com/shop/mats
I was thinking the same thing, either the self healing cutting mat, or the mat from a silhouette or cricut. (Or a off brand name equivalent being those that carry the brand name are a bit proud of their product)
The width on the crafting machine mats normally has width limitations because of their machine designs. The self healing cutting mat, is only limited by money. We have one that’s 36 x 48 when I found a deal. It’s larger than the table we thought it would be perfect for. (I still can’t bring myself to cut it down)
