Does this foldable table make sense?

I’m planning a table, so as not to waste too much space in my workshop, I wanted to make a folding table.

what are your opinions?

It won’t fold unless the pivot part can move out to clear the bottom corner of the table. What you could do, is build it upside down, then use a piano hinge across the bottom(top while building). Full length hinge should be plenty strong enough.

I dig the “parking space” for the Lowrider. Great idea. Of course in my garage stuff would get piled in front of it making impossible to open back up OR stuff would get stashed under it making it impossible to fold down…

Just make the folding part entirely removable.

It will save you from the hassle of making the hinge system, it will take less space because you’ll be able to put the table under the stationary part, against the wall and it will probably be easier to get the table flat (though I’m sure that will be the biggest challenge you’ll have to face everytime in both folding and removable configurations). I think if you do it removble it will be a very nice and convenient way to keep some precious space.

Thx for your opinions.

Complet removable sounds also great, I will play a little bit with this concept.

Neat plan. I made a huge table and am still curious about alternatives that save space in a still quasi functional car storage garage. Well done.

I should mention as well, you haven’t accounted for the belts.

I’m wondering how this would work for belt tension. Might need to be able to adjust the tension each time you put the table up.

There is an alternate tensioning system on Thingiverse that has screw adjusted tensioning that is easily removable. I’m using this in my build because I’m hoping to add a second table at some point to give me a full 4x8 capability without having to have that size table in my shop full time.

If you want it to fold down make sure it folds down after your belt holders and machine otherwise it’s going to be a pain in the b*m…am I being a pain myself now?
