Decided to jump down the Rabbit Hole Again! LR4!

So January 2021 I got my complete box of Primo parts from V1! Decided to try to build a Primo and what a fantastic adventure and much of it was due to this forum and of course V1 itself.

I do come and go and go so seems I have to re-learn over and over. I can usually retain knowledge okay but some of this stuff was like “pat your head while rubbing your tummy CLOCK-WISE while you tap you LEFT (not right foot) and do this…” And it works but I sure don’t know why? :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: Hard for me to retain as I just followed kind explanations.

Anyway ordered the compete package for the LR4 coming this Friday! So exited. I am pretty proficient at 3D printing but honestly would rather help in a tiny way Ryan and just buy from him.

I am very comfortable at woodworking and like the parametric tools for a torsion table but was wondering if you can answer some basic questions? My target is a cutting area or 2’ x 4’ as I am a little spaced limited as I want to keep my Primo for now.

I see there is a front rail that has to be a little wider than the back rail. And the left side can be narrow then the right side as the router overhangs the left? I will base the construction around the 2’ x 4’ 3/4” MDF as a spoil board.

Can anyone help me provide the missing dimensions of the four sides?

Again not sure if this makes sense. I’ve U/L a sketch. I will then model the Torsion Box table for underneath.

Thanks.

Your post is a bit confusing - there is no front and back rail, they are left and right - the machine is generally built as square or portrait aspect ratio - if it’s wider than it is long you lose rigidity and can’t cut your strut plates in one go.

The docs have a size calculator and link to a parametric table generator you can use to work out dimensions from for the size you want

I’m sorry I did not ask my question better. My understanding is if my desired work space is 2’ x 4’ the 4 foot length will be the “Y” axis and the shorter 2 foot length would be the “X” axis.

Also the single conduit rail runs along the “Y” axis while the double tube Beam Gantry is on the 2’ “X” axis.

I should not have used the rail term but was thinking in terms of cabinetry like rail and stile.

I don’t have a good work surface to use for assembly and wanted to get a start but I think it would be wise to wait until a start the assembly process and then make a proper table.

Thanks for the feedback.

Corrected the first

Yes that’s all making sense now. :+1:

The single Y axis conduit is on what the docs call the X-max side, or the right if you stand with the core and router towards you.

I took a massive deep dive into the very many post on building a table int the forum and have a much better appreciation now. I was way too premature to be asking that question!

Ooops!

Never too early to ask questions. Keep them coming, it’ll help you get ready for your build.
