Cutting PVC foam board

I had grand plans of building the LR2 big enough to do this job, but simply didn’t have space. I do have a bit of leftover PVC board though and wondered if anyone has had a play with it.

It’s easy to cut and machine with normal woodworking tools, but takes a little care with the router - run too fast and it seems to get a bit sticky, too slow and it melts although that still makes for a smooth cut.

I just wondered if anyone has any idea what a good starting point might be?

Here’s my camper bed base cut by hand, routed with a 3d template the “good old fashioned way”.

My default is always lowest RPM you can, single flute upcut, increase feed rate to the fastest you are comfortable with, then start increasing depth of cut. You have to get the chips out and not recut them or they will start to melt.

It should cut great, adding air should increase the speed or depth considerably.

Thanks for that - it’s an interesting material - this is the third lightweight fitout I’ve done with it and they’ve been really durable - would love to do a cnc cut version.
