Connector Parts Kit

Hello All,

I have a vision of my future where I have damaged a connector or need to do a modification. I want to order a kit of connectors and the metal things that go inside.

My problem is I don’t know what they are called so I don’t know what to order. Could someone give me information on what I should order to have a spare parts kit? If it matters I’m building a LR3 but also want them for my 3d printer.

Thanks,
Jerry

Most of those are DuPont connectors

Other versions come with a decent ratcheting crimper.

For the SKR Pro, you mightaso look into JST-XH connectors

Which can probably use the same crimpers.

I have always had issues with the DuPont connector style, the crimpers never seem to be tight enough to easily fit the connectors into the housings. The JST ones seem slightly better. Beware deals that seem too good on crimpers. I had nearly zilch for success until I spent a bit more money on a crimping tool. Frankly, I did better with needle nosed pliers, though that’s a royal pain in the backside and takes a long time. The better tool I bought helps a lot.

I have a kit like Dan links, but I don’t use it enough to be any good with it. It is always a figh. I usually just punt and I use pre-assembled Dupont wires like these, and solder them to my connectors. JST connectors also come pre-assembled.

I had trouble with my dupont crimpers on the JST terminals. They make more narrow crimpers specifically for them.

I found that they helped me reliably crimp the JST connectors. With more practice, I probably could have used the same ones.

I’m liking my crimped and keyed endstops… Hopefully I won’t fry anything. I like to “Idiot Proof” things as much as possible, I find it lets me spend my cognitive resources elsewhere.
