Well it turns out that I was a bit hasty…
The hexagon at the top, along with the 50 mm height, was interfering with the hose holder on the lower tool mount. So I ended up cutting the adapter down to about 20 mm, and it fit much better.
Lesson learned - test fit the entire assembly, not just the parts it directly connects to.
