The warnings are legit, FEA is only as good as your input. If you design a part assuming the wrong forces, you will use the same wrong forces to set up your FEA and it is all wrong and builds a lot of confidence in your design, while being totally wrong. It is very useful when you are correct though.
As an example this screenshot is not representative of anything useful. These parts are designed as a system / assembly. It is pretty though.
Yeah, garbage in garbage out… I primarily use it to iterate on design changes. I’ll get directional results that validate which changes actually improve the structure. I rarely look at the actual numbers because you typically have to correlate the results to real world testing. But I’ve been looking for a hobby tool so thanks for the link!
FreeCAD has an FEA package, that is a major reason I want to change over. I am hoping it does assemblies in FEA, that would be an interesting learning experience.
