Chinese Spindle

Is anyone useing a Chinese Spindle, if so how do you like it and what one?

I’m thinking of adding one of these spindles as I’m on my 4th router (2 cheap harbor freight ones that I had on hand and a mid level menards one that was all I could afford at the time). I’ve been trying to find installation/wiring instructions. Did anything like that come with the kit?

The DW660 is very robust and comes with a 1 yr warranty.

I guess “Technically” I’m using a Chinese spindle. I’m using a Bauer router from Harbor Freight. Big thing I like about it is, I spent the $7ish to get the extended warranty, and anytime before the end of the warranty, if it is just not working as well as it did new, I can just take it back and exchange it in store for free. Much better than a Dewalt or any other name brand warranty, where you have to mail the thing off, and “Maybe” get it back in a few weeks.

I thought HD honored the warranties on simple products like the dewalt.

Depends on the reason for the warranty return. If it doesn’t work, then yes, but if it just doesn’t have the power it should or something, then usually they make you send it back to the manufacturer yourself.

Wesley went through a bunch of them and they kept honoring it. He also made a video about replacing the brushes, which is really what wears out.

I ended up getting the 500W Chinese spindle with er11 collet set from Amazon for $118. Seems to have adequate power, simple unmarked dial for speed control, 110V or 220v inputs. I can’t get over how much quieter it is, it’s quieter while cutting than any of the routers I’ve used have been running free. I’m a spindle vs router convert LOL. The only thing I’d say is don’t scrimp on the mount, print the kind with a bottom and top and definitely not just the simple band style, mine cracked in very short order. The one on the table is the one I’m installing.
